The people who make building regulations do not own houses

The people who make building regulations do not own houses, at least not in Sydney Australia. They could just be insane or on drugs but my bet is they do not own houses or do not live in Sydney or only make regulations based on bribes. It is almost impossible to find a house in Sydney designed for Sydney.

The first people building modern houses in Australia were wrong because they were immigrants building houses designed for a completely different country. Two hundred years later builders are still allowed to build houses totally wrong for Sydney.

Sydney has huge bursts of rain every year and builders are still allowed to build houses that cannot handle rain. When Sydney averages 0.3mm of rain across an hour, individual suburbs get 200mm in 5 minutes but builders are still allowed to build for the 0.3mm average.

If you do not believe me, read www.smh.com.au/news/national/gremlin-behind-the-walls/2008/02/22/1203467388838.html. This problem was known ten years ago but successive NSW state governments covered it up because most of their election funds come from building developers. Imagine how the state government would collapse at the next election if they were slapped with a malpractice lawsuit for their lies about the problem, their total lack of response to the problem, and their stupidity/greed/insanity/pig headedness for sticking to their obviously stupid approval of faulty products and practices. If the car industry did the same, there would be hundreds of people dead.

Oh yes, there was a time when Ford though that letting hundreds of people burn to death was cheaper than trying to fix a fault in a product. www.engineering.com/Library/ArticlesPage/tabid/85/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/166/Ford-Pinto.aspx. Does that mean the NSW state government officially believes the destruction of thousands of Sydney homes is trivial compared to the risk of one of their members losing an occasional election? Seems like it.

We get hailstorms and house owners are expected to depend on insurance to fix up their house after faulty roofing collapses. The roofing was approved without testing. Now that same asbestos roofing is found to kill thousands of people with cancer and some people are taking action to replace the roofing. Nobody in the government cared that it collapsed in a hail storm destroying whole homes by the hundred.

Electricity is delivered along wires among the branches that fall every big gust of wind. You cannot call emergency services when you electricity fails because your phone lines are killed by the same branches. Again the state government does not care. They believe that protecting hundreds of thousands of residents will change an election result. They are happy when people have to live two weeks at a time without electricity or a warm meal. When that type of disaster happened in our suburb in the 1990s, the state government did nothing and the media did nothing.

Today the state government might be slightly more sensitive about the issue because it can be reported with live video on the Internet but the state government has not changed a regulation or done anything useful.

In Perth, Western Australia, where they rarely get rain downpours anywhere near a Sydney outburst, residents are allowed to build houses with guttering designed to handle heavy rain but not Sydney residents.

If the current NSW state government uses insanity as an excuse then clearly they are not fit to hold office. If they choose to not claim insanity as an excuse then the result of their inaction clearly shows they are not fit to hold office.

Conclusion

The current NSW state government are unfit to hold office.
