technology:

Scribus is a free open source replacement for Microsoft Publisher and similar desktop publishing programs across Linux, Apple Unix (Mac OS X), and Windows.

Ghostscript

Some Scribus Postscript features need Ghostscript. If you install Ghostscript first, Scribus will automatically find Ghostscript.

Download

Download Scribus from www.scribus.net. The Windows version works on Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and 7. There is an extra installation step for Windows 2000. The stable version is 1.3.3.14 but there were some big improvements in 1.3.5. I used the latest development version 1.3.7, a 35 megabyte download. If you use Photoshop PSD files, you need the latest version.
