The Jump is written by Martina Cole, is 824 pages long, has an interesting story line, and features characters that are just not interesting enough to continue reading the book.

Published in 1995, The Jump is Martina's fourth novel out of 16 up to 2010. Most of her novels have a female in the lead role and feature the English underworld in and near London.

Donna Brunos is married to Geogio Brunis. Georgio is arrested, sentenced to 18 years jail, and pleads innocent. Donna plans to break Georgio out of jail, leading to the book title The Jump. Donna starts to find things are not what they initially appeared to Donna.

There is a lot of detailed descriptions of minor characters and minor incidents padding out the start of the book to the point where you have to work through several chapters to find the interesting part of the story line. Most of the characters are not interesting. By the time the story moved away from the basic husband in jail line, I lost interest in all of the characters.
