This is the eight Lincoln Rhyme novel and it starts to show with all the back history dragged out at the start. The story picks up when extra characters arrive.
Lincoln Rhyme is a forensic investigator with little knowledge of cybercrime. The case involves identity theft. Other characters, interesting characters, are called in to help. The result is a fresh new mix.
The unsub is killing people and using the identities of other people. Every crime is solved without nailing the bad guy. The story is told from the perspective of the victims and the killer and the people convicted of the crimes plus, of course Lincoln Rhyme and his ???, Amelia Sachs.
You will have to read the story to understand Amelia. Start with the first in the series, the Bone Collector, then read The Broken Window.
If you have time, you could read the whole series. The order is not important after The Bone Collector because that first book brings Lincoln and Amelia together.
Something nagged, yet she couldn't quite figure out what.
Like a faint recurring ache somewhere in your body.
Or a man on the street behind you as you near your apartment... Was he the same one who'd been glancing at you on the subway?
