The second book in the series starting with A Madness of Angels by Kate Griffin.

Imaginative. This book has some interesting history of London, weird creatures, and a weird main character. Following the text is a lot of work in some sections. Some sections are repetitive. Some parts make me wish I had read the first book of the series first.

The first book in the series, A Madness of Angels, changes the main character from strange to weird. I suspect it would make the second book easier to understand at the start.

Catherine Webb writes young adult novels under the name Catherine Webb. Now Catherine Webb also writes adult fantasy novels under the name Kate Griffin. A Madness of Angels and The Midnight Mayor are the only books published as Kate Griffin.
